Cash or Coco?
My sister had a little girl early this morning. So I have a beautiful little niece named Coco Emery. I can’t wait to meet her. I guess she looks like her dad and even smiled right away when she saw my sister. My sister bravely tried to have her vaginally, but little Miss Coco was not budging, so she came via c-section. But all went well and now I get to be called Tia!
I will post some pics when I get some.

Sienna is a bloggin’
Sienna is blogging now. She is so excited. She has a private blog, so you have to email me if you’d like to be added to her approved list of viewers.
A Boy or a Girl?
My sister was induced this morning and I am still waiting for a phone call to find out what she has…a daughter or a son. I am probably annoying my parents calling for updates all day long, but since I am not there, I have to know the play-by-play. My sister called me around 8pm and was dilated to a 6-7, so maybe in the wee hours of the morning I will get that phone call.
This brings back memories of Ayla’s birth and what an extraordinary time it was welcoming our new baby into our lives and the excitement of my mom and dad being there with us. These moments are the best!

My Current Read
Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham.
If you have kids, this is an incredible book about discipling your children. Not discipline, but discipling. We recently attended a Christian Heritage conference and Voddie was the main speaker. It was life-changing, really, for us as parents. We have the responsibility of raising children who walk with God. How we have so missed purposely discipling our kids. It is so easy to let Sunday School or Youth Group teach your kids, but that is not enough nor is it how God intended for our children to learn about Him. He told us to do it. We have been challenged to set this as priority in our lives to immerse our children with God’s Word and teach them a biblical worldview. This book really lays it out for you on how to begin doing this. And I have not even finished the book, because I want to try and take it step by step and apply it to my life. But I couldn’t wait to share this wonderful resource with any parents out there. I can’t encourage you enough to read this book.
Here is a link to his website.
The $125 Bead and a Pinto Bean?
I was laying down with Ayla to read her some books before she took her nap and she says to me…”Canyu get es bea outta my euh?” Say that again. I couldn’t understand you. “Can you get this bead out of my ear?” What? Let me see. Can’t see much, but then I feel inside her ear and sure enough there is a bead stuck inside. Hmmm…How do you handle this situation? So, I call my dad and see if he has any advice after seeing all kinds of stuff having been a firefighter all his life. Tweezers don’t work. Dad suggests a vacuum to suck it out. While Ayla naps, I try the vacuum out on my ear to see how loud it would be to her. Way too loud. So, we call the doctor and head into see him. $20 co-pay. He can’t get it out. The next morning we go to the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and instantly he pulls it out with ease. $35 co-pay plus $70 bill. Ayla stayed so nice and still for both doctors. The nice nurse says, “Are you going to put anything else in your ear again?” Ayla says, “yeah.” Hmmm….maybe it should have been a little more traumatic for her. And it was a cheap, little black bead, well…I guess it cost us more like $125.
So a week or so later, I am combing through Ayla’s hair after a bath. I come to one section and am surprised to see what looks like a pinto bean in her hair. How did I miss this big chunk of food when I was washing her hair. And then I panic, that is no bean, that is a tick embedded in my daughter’s head. I get a cold sweat as I realize that Toby is at work and I will have to deal with this. Well, I am tough, but I could not handle this one. I call Toby and he is swamped at work and can’t get away. He suggests calling my friend, Dawna, who lives on property and has to deal with ticks on a regular basis. Dawna asks how big it is an proceeds to tell me how to get them out by using tweezers right on the head and make sure you don’t just pull the body out….I can’t do this. So, I head over to Dawna’s for some assistance. Then she sorda freaks at the size of this tick. Ahhh. I thought it was big. Thankfully, Hannah, her 14 yr old daughter is home. She didn’t hesitate at all to get this tick for me. Thank you, Hannah!!! When she pulls this nasty guy out along comes part of Ayla’s scalp. Ayla didn’t wince a bit. Somehow it didn’t hurt her. I am so thankful for Ayla’s calmness through all these ordeals. If this is what it is like with girls. I can’t imagine boys!
Ellie’s First Soccer Team
While we thought Ellie would really like soccer, we stand to be corrected. She love, love, loves it! It was incredibly exciting to watch her play simply because her face lit up so with enjoyment. She literally was hopping up and down on the field while running next to whomever had the ball and waiting until she got to kick it. Smiling the entire time, I might add. (Yeah, she’s learned sharing quite well, I guess.) While Toby and I are screaming from the sidelines, “Get the ball!”
And anytime anyone got the ball, they would run and score in the nearest goal, no matter whose team it was. So funny. While the parents all scream, “Turn around. Other goal!” The kids were oblivious and having fun!!
What a delight to see your child really enjoy something. Especially when you can relate to the exact feeling. Soccer is the best.
Although, I had the same emotions watching Sienna in her first play, loving being on stage. Not for me, but I loved seeing her light up with enjoyment just the same.
It is so neat how God created us with our unique talents and interests and we get to have so much fun.
